BREAKING: The U.S. government has blocked Nigeria from using the fighter jets it purchased to combat Boko Haram terrorists.

The U.S. warned the Nigerian government not to use the Super Tucano jets in its fight against Boko Haram. These advanced jets are missile-equipped, bulletproof, and extremely fast — capable of reaching Borno from Abuja in just 5 minutes.

In 2021, under former President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria bought these jets from the U.S. at a cost of over $500 million — nearly 1 trillion Naira.

However, the U.S. imposed certain conditions before the sale, and it’s reported that the Nigerian government violated one of them. As a result, the U.S. has restricted their use in combat operations.

Now, the jets are grounded and idle, despite the massive investment. They’ve essentially become useless equipment — possibly headed for scrap sales.
