Tension Rises as India-Pakistan Conflict Escalates in Kashmir
A new wave of violence has erupted between two nuclear-armed neighbors, India and Pakistan, following deadly missile strikes and aerial confrontations.
According to senior Pakistani officials, the Pakistan Air Force reportedly shot down multiple Indian fighter jets in retaliation to India’s earlier missile attacks on Pakistani cities and areas within Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
Missiles were reportedly launched by India targeting cities such as Bahawalpur, Muridke, Bagh, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli, leading to civilian casualties. At least eight people were killed and over 30 injured, with more still missing.
Military sources claim the jets targeted by Pakistan included modern aircraft like the Rafale, MiG-29, and SU-30, which were allegedly attempting to conduct strikes from Indian airspace.
Cross-border shelling also intensified along the Line of Control, the heavily militarized frontier dividing Jammu and Kashmir. The recent escalation follows a deadly attack on April 22 in Indian-administered Kashmir that left 26 people dead. India blamed the incident on Pakistan, a claim that Islamabad firmly denies.
With tensions soaring and lives at risk, calls are growing louder for restraint, dialogue, and a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict—before the region plunges deeper into chaos.
